Torrone di Tonara nougat
Honey, nuts, and a whole lot of love. Your daily dose of sweetness!
The sweetness of age-old traditions
In the province of Nuoro, amidst holm oak forests and mountain slopes, Tonara is famous throughout Sardinia for its handcrafted torrone nougat, a speciality rooted in a centuries-old tradition. Prepared with local honey, whipped egg whites, and nuts – particularly almonds and walnuts – Tonara nougat is distinguished by its soft texture and intense flavour, enhanced by the quality of the ingredients and slow, careful processing.
Even today, especially during festivals and dedicated fairs, the nougat is still cooked in large pots and worked by hand, using movements handed down from generation to generation. It lets you savour the taste of ancient knowledge, the aromas of warm honey, and the authentic identity of an area whose signature is simplicity and quality.
